INTERACTION

  • To what extent was I able to put the last lesson into practice?
  • What challenges me?
  • Who did I tell about Jesus?

STUDY

Goal: You recognize that Jesus had the first Christian community or church. You begin to understand how Jesus wanted the church.

📖 Mark 3:31-35

Question:

  • Who belongs to the spiritual family of Jesus?

📖 Matthew 16: 13-20

Question:

  • What does Peter recognize here?
  • Why does Jesus say that he wants to build his church on this knowledge?
  • Who does Jesus say is the builder and leader of the church?

Look up together in books or on the internet what ekklesia means. This word is used here and is often translated as congregation or church. This word occurs 116 times in the New Testament.

📖 Romans 16:19

📖 Colossians 4:15

Questions:

  • Where did the Christians meet?
  • What do these places (private houses) represent and why is this important?

In the church of Jesus, there are no longer any holy places, holy offices or holy days where or through which God can be met. Because every believer is - YOU are - a saint. When you come together with other believers who have the same realization as Peter, you are at that moment a spiritual family, a congregation or even a church.

ACTION STEP

  • What are you actually implementing?
  • What Bible verse or biblical principle are you memorizing?
  • To whom can you pass on what you have learned?

  • When is the next time we meet?
